About Us

Professional Amateur Chess League is the home for chess players of every level

After peaking in the 50s and 60s, the current state of Nationally Ranked OTB Chess has declined to the state of fewer than 100,000 active ranked players, most of which are children in scholastic programs.

The loss of adult participation has resulted in a decline in the number and quality of USCF sanctioned tournaments with many states having no ranked tournaments. In the states with tournaments, many states are left with only one premier event run yearly. Often there no regular weekly or monthly calendar of playable events.

Blurry Lights

Our Vision is to spark a renaissance in OTB Chess by providing Professional Nationally Ranked Events for Amateur Players at Every Level. Since the scholastic program has succeeded in recruiting and serving the underage market, we will focus on the critically underserved market of adults learning and advancing.

Our Goal is to increase the number of Active Nationally Ranked players to 1,000,000 with over 100,000 having a Chess Title of Expert or Higher.
